Yanoun, a small Palestinian village a few miles east of Nablus, has recently been erased from existence.
Since the mid 1990s, illegal Israeli settlers have been intimidating and perpetrating acts of violence against Yanoun’s residents in an attempt to drive them out.
After many years of resistance, in December 2025 the Israeli military forcibly evacuated the village, ethnically cleansing Palestinians from their land and community.
Over the years, the charity, Friends of Nablus & Surrounding Areas, has been active in helping Yanoun to repair houses and educate its young people. Ecumenical Accompaniers (EA) had maintained an international presence in the village in an attempt to reduce the attacks by the settlers.
The Mondoweiss website reports on the decline and disappearance of such a determined and challenged village with the impact on all its residents.
Also, Ann Farr, an EA in 2010, has written about her experience in Yanoun.
