DNTA News February 2024

The Israeli war on Gaza is now entering its fourth month. Not only do the 2 million Palestinians living there have to endure the indiscriminate bombardment and killing by the Israeli army, but they also face the collective punishment of widespread hunger, famine and the outbreak of preventable diseases.
The recent interim judgement of the International Court of Justice recognised this and called on the Israeli government: to stop killing Palestinians; to enable emergency assistance and basic services to Gaza; and to take measures to end the possible genocide.

Local action

Dundee continues to organise a range of events to highlight what is happening in Palestine. There are well-attended weekly rallies and demonstrations in the city centre calling for an immediate ceasefire and an end to the genocide.

Nablus

In the West Bank, including our twin city of Nablus, the Israeli army and settlers continue to murder and terrorise the Palestinian communities. Recently three young Palestinian men were executed by the Israeli army in a Jenin hospital.

Deputy Mayor of Nablus

Our next Zoom talk will hear from the Deputy Mayor of Nablus, Dr Shakhshir. He will give us an up-to-date report on the current situation and how the city and its people are dealing with it.
We are really privileged that he is taking the time to speak to us. We hope you can join us – please register in advance.

Nurses and Midwives for Nablus

Our year-long campaign to support the training of Nurses and Midwives in Nablus, which we only launched last month, has got off to a flying start. We need to keep up the momentum to reach our target. A big thank you to those who have already contributed.

Please contact us if you would like leaflets to distribute to friends or colleagues.

Our Palestine Film event

As part of our annual contribution to the Dundee Women’s Festival, DNTA, with support from DCA, is hosting two films both directed by Palestinian women. Please join us on Wednesday 6th March at the DCA to watch the films and hear the panel discussion. DCA event page and the booking page.
