Nablus: Visits and Delegations

Meeting people from our twin city is so uplifting. It is not easy for them to get here and our travel to Nablus is often hard. But it is worth it.

Visits to and from Nablus

Despite Palestinians’ difficulty with travelling and sometimes the denial of visas by the UK government, we have had a number of exchanges between Dundee and Nablus over the years.

The most recent delegation from Dundee in 2022 was the largest ever, consisting of 9 members of DNTA and 5 members of Dundee Trades Union Council, representing different trade unions.

When we were there, we unveiled a plaque and planted a tree in memory of the late Ernie Ross MP who helped start the link between our cities.

In the past, many members of DNTA were privileged to meet with the Bassam Shaka’a, the former Mayor of Nablus, who initiated the twinning.

It has been a long time since a delegation from Nablus has visited Dundee. We hope that we can welcome them here soon.
