The Prickly Pears of Palestine

Hilda Reilly spoke on her time in Nablus and Palestine which she covered in her book "The Prickly Pears of Palestine".

She described how she came to be there, the difficulties of getting through checkpoints, and her experiences with the people of Nablus. They showed great resilience; they were keen for a peaceful outcome; they would live with the settlers in place. This despite everyone in Nablus having stories of encounters with Israeli soldiers or family members imprisoned, injured or killed by the Israeli army.

Visting Nablus

Catriona Bracker showed some of her pictures from her visit to Nablus earlier this year. There are fewer obstacles to travel but Catriona was very moved by the landscape, the city and the people. Her poem was emotional.
