Chickpeas and Raisins
An introduction to traditional Palestinian embroidery
Chickpeas and raisins is the name of a popular Palestinian embroidery design as portrayed here. It is created with the simple cross-stitch characteristic of Palestinian designs.
Learning about embroidery and Nablus
This course was for people who wanted to stitch something different, whether an experienced or new stitcher. 12 people took up our offer of this embroidery course where they were invited to:
- Learn about the role of embroidery in Palestine - past and present
- Experience the key elements of traditional embroidery - stitches, materials, motifs, uses
- Hear about our twin city of Nablus
